The Instructor Rating consists of 50 hours of flight training and between 50 and 100 hours of ground training.
The flight training is divided into 30 hours dual with a Grade 1 instructor and 20 hours mutual training with another instructor trainee or Grade 2 or 3 instructor acting in that role.
The ground course in Principles and Methods of Instruction shall be conducted as a series of briefings and discussions at regular intervals throughout your training.
The basic costs for the Instructor Rating (as of September 2006) are as follows:

*If no other trainees are available the 10 hours will be charged at the Solo Rate therefore adding $1254.50 to the total cost.
*There is a requirement for Instructors to have the Night VFR rating. The approximate cost for the Night VFR is $2620.00
