Pilot Training > Ratings > Command Instrument Rating
The Command Instrument Rating (Multi Engine) requires the following aeronautical
experience: 40 hours of instrument time including 20 hours cross country I/F and
10 hours instrument flight instruction time.
To allow night I/F on the rating the candidate must have 10 hours of night flight
with not less than 5 hours as pilot in command. A Night VFR rating will usually
satisfy this component. Otherwise, 5 hours of the I/F cross country and/or navaid
training can be done at night with an additional 5 hours of night circuits P.I.C
in a Cessna 172.
